Jackson WY (October 2, 2015) – Snow King Mountain is thrilled to announce that the Cowboy Coaster will open to the public this Sunday, October 4.
The coaster will operate daily, weather permitting, until October 18th giving locals and off season visitors the opportunity to try out the new attraction prior to a grand opening planned for December.
Ryan Stanley, Snow King Mountain General Manager, has been working on this project for more than three years and is excited for the public to get their first taste of what he anticipates will be a huge attraction for decades to come.
“Our small team has put in a ton of hard work and long hours over the past six months to bring these new improvements to fruition and we’re all ready for the public to come check out the work,” Stanley said. “The completion of the coaster and Treetop Adventure Park are a huge step towards making Snow King a world-class mountain resort in the heart of Jackson.”
Construction on the Treetop Adventure park will be concluding within two weeks, and it is anticipated that the new base area buildings, housing the mountain sports school as well as a bar and restaurant, will be finished by early December.
The coaster goes as fast as 27 mph, and gets as high as 43 feet off the ground. It carries riders 400 vertical feet up 1,660 linear feet of track and descends 3,295 feet of downhill track with four 360 degree corkscrew turns, six bridges, several jumps and waves and plenty of open coasting. The ride has anti-collision technology and riders can control their own speed. It can operate in rain and snow and will be open both summer and winter seasons.
The ride costs $21 for drivers 54” or taller, and $8 for a passenger 38”-54” tall. Tickets can be purchased at Snow King Mountain Sports, in the Snow King Hotel at 400 East Snow King Ave. The coaster hours through October 18th are weekdays 12pm-5pm and weekends 10am-5pm.
