Artist Spotlight

Thievery Corporation – After a dozen highly acclaimed full-length albums, remix LPs, concert recordings, and over two decades of incendiary live performances that have thrilled audiences worldwide, Thievery Corporation’s music and message is more relevant and important now than ever.  People don’t refer to Thievery Corporation as “World Music,” but it’s safe to say that their music and ethos is global in its scope and ahead of its time at every turn.  “Our shows are VERY live, lots of energy, the combination of multiple instruments and singers that take you on a musical journey,”

Ozomatli – The multi-genre band born in Los Angeles, is a cultural force blending Latin, hip-hop, funk, reggae, and global sounds into a vibrant musical experience.  Celebrating 30 years in 2025, the ensemble of six founding members includes Asdru Sierra (vocals, trumpet), Raul Pacheco (vocals, guitars), UIi Bella (saxophone, vocals), Wil-Dog Abers (bass), Jiro Yamaguchi (percussion), and Justin Poree (vocals, percussion).  With roots in Boyle Heights and a history of community activism, their dynamic energy spans generations, unifying diverse audiences through music.  From Grammy wins to global tours, Ozomatli’s sound represents unity, resilience, and the spirit of celebration.

Big Head Todd and The Monsters – For close to four decades, the members of Big Head Todd and The Monsters—Todd Park Mohr [vocals, guitar, keys, sax, harmonica], Brian Nevin [drums], Rob Squires [bass, vocals], and Jeremy Lawton [keyboards, lap pedal/steel guitar, vocals]—have continued to both throw down in the studio and light up stages worldwide. Rallying around a core vision, the platinum-selling Colorado quartet kick out the kind of blues-drenched rock ‘n’ roll bangers that make you want to rev the engine a little louder, sing along like no one’s looking, and live a little freer.

Luke Grimes – Luke Grimes is a natural-born creative: an actor, musician, singer, and songwriter who releases his self-titled debut album on March 8. Luke Grimes, produced by Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton) arrives on the heels of Grimes’ gritty, acclaimed 2023 EP, Pain Pills or Pews, and features 13 tracks. Ten songs were co-written by Grimes, including “No Horse to Ride,” which debuted at No. 7 on the Country Songs sales chart in 2022 and accumulated 43.3M release-to-date global on-demand streams. Spotify highlighted the song on the cover of its Country Hits 2023 playlist, with the song in the No. 1 position. Grimes’ recording of “Hold On,” a highlight of Pain Pills or Pews that also appears on Luke Grimes, has amassed 25M global on-demand streams, adding to Grimes’ 95.6M total global streams to date of all his music.

Modest Mouse – Having recently completed another successful run with Pixies and Cat Power, Modest Mouse continues to prove themselves to be one of the most consistent live acts today. Modest Mouse released their highly anticipated new album, The Golden Casket, on June 25, 2021 via Epic Records. The Golden Casket heralds another new chapter in the GRAMMY Award-nominated multi platinum band’s unpredictable evolution.

Ty Segall – Ty Segall rides back in with his 16th album, Possession, to be released May 30th via Drag City, and with today’s announcement, releases the lead single,“Fantastic Tomb.” Following 2024’s Three Bells, Possession sees Ty on the hunt for new horizons, hitting the trail beneath the big skies of our frontier empire to take us on a high-octane narrative journey. A literary set of lyrics co-written by his longtime collaborator, filmmaker Matt Yoka, paint an abiding view of quintessentially American stories. All the while, there are invigorated new sounds around every bend – glittering rhythm arrangements feature more of Ty’s own piano woodshedding than ever, joined in battle by sweeping movements of strings and horns. Rife with singing guitar leads and banks of Ty’s vocal harmonies, Possession features some of Ty’s most inspired songs to date. Tapping Yoka to write with him was one of the keys to this new music. As a non-musician, Yoka’s language sense is different from the one Ty’s amassed as a player of music. With the trust they’ve developed over the years — brainstorming the visual worlds of Goodbye Bread, Manipulator, Emotional Mugger, and music of Yoka’s Whirlybird documentary — they throw the conceptual ball back and forth to translate a general feeling or a vibe into wicked lyric imagery, each acting as writer and editor in the process. Be it de Toqueville, duBois, George H. Nash, Howard Zinn, Bob Dylan or Smile-era Beach Boys, Ty’s sharpened narrative approach and storytelling takes a page from everyone’s history. Today’s single, “Fantastic Tomb,” is an epic story-song. Desperate for something he can hold onto, our hero takes a job hitting the house of “a man worth more than a country could make,” only to find the treasure hunt to be just another ride to nowhere. The song is a modern American noir-cum-classic rock hoedown, scored with Ty’s burnt-filament lead guitar and ingeniously sealed with Mikal Cronin’s saxophone section. Possession is Ty Segall’s own bizarre traversing of the American landscape, taking back alleys through complicated cityscapes and singing about the end of the rope while resisting defeat — suggesting an ecstatic new empire to build as he cruises the countryside.

De La Soul – De La Soul are a revolutionary force in hip-hop. Upon its arrival in 1989, their debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, sounded like nothing else, with a colorful, almost collaged production aesthetic and the rappers’ rhyme styles that were equal parts clever and goofily humorous. At the time, this made De La Soul a gentler, more inventive one-of-a-kind presence in a rap landscape largely defined by aggression and righteous anger. Inventive and eclectic, De La Soul incorporated not only funk and soul, but also pop, jazz, reggae, and psychedelia samples into their strange and alluring patchwork of sounds. The group continued down their own path on their own terms as trends in rap came and went. Their output throughout the ’90s was entirely formative for hip-hop on the whole, with works like 1991’s De La Soul Is Dead and 1996’s Stakes Is High providing a wealth of inspirational starting points that entire generations of other artists would build from. After 2004’s The Grind Date, De La Soul went on hiatus, but returned in 2016 with the crowd-funded And the Anonymous Nobody as well as the occasional stand-alone track.

Digable Planets – Digable Planets burst onto the music scene in 1993 with their Grammy-winning single, “Rebirth Of Slick (Cool Like Dat)”. Made up of Ishmael Butler (“Butterfly”), Craig Irving (“Doodlebug”) and Mary Ann Vieira (“Ladybug Mecca”), the trio carved out a unique style of jazz-informed Hip Hop. Shortly after, Digable Planets followed up with their debut album, Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time And Space), an ambitious offering that Pitchfork praised as “a world within a world, complete with its own language and monuments.” The group celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Reachin’ in 2023.

The Soul Rebels – Brass sensation The Soul Rebels started with an idea – to expand upon the pop music they loved on the radio and the New Orleans brass tradition they grew up on. They took that tradition and blended funk and soul with elements of hip hop, jazz and rock all within the style of a modernized and contemporary brass band. The Soul Rebels built a career around an eclectic live show that harnesses the power of horns and drums in a party-like atmosphere. The eight-member collective frequently appear on major record label releases with star artists including Sony Music artist GEazy’s single ‘When You’re Gone” featuring Lil Wayne, Def Jam artist Dave East and Nas’ “Godfather 4”, Big Freedia and Icona Pop’s “Pipe That” and Warner Music Group artist Phony Ppl’s new album. The Soul Rebels have scored original music for Walt Disney’s 2023 movie Haunted Mansion and appeared on the official soundtrack for Universal Pictures’ hit comedy Girls Trip.

Shane Smith & The Saints – “It ain’t black or white, babe; it’s all the greys between,” Shane Smith sings in “The Greys Between,” the first single from Norther. On the surface, it’s a cinematic love song about a relationship’s twists and turns, punctuated by slide guitar, Appalachian fiddle, and sharp storytelling. Take a deeper listen to Shane Smith and the Saints’ fourth studio album, though, and those words also sound like the motto of a band that’s spent the past decade blurring the lines between genres.  It’s a sound that’s been shaped by the road, where the Saints spent the past decade on tour, building a cult audience with each gig. Those years of raw, redemptive performances are now paying off — not only with headlining concerts at bucket-list venues like Red Rocks Amphitheater (which the group sold out in 36 hours) and the Ryman Auditorium, but also with an appearance on the hit TV show Yellowstone, where the Saints premiered Norther‘s final track, “Fire in the Ocean,” with an onscreen performance.

Houndmouth – Houndmouth is an American alternative blues band from New Albany, Indiana led by Matt Myers (guitar, vocals). Houndmouth formed in the summer of 2011. After playing locally in Louisville and Indiana, they performed at the SXSW music festival in March 2012 to promote their homemade self-titled EP. Geoff Travis, the head of Rough Trade was in the audience and offered a contract shortly after. In 2012, the band was named “Band Of The Week” by The Guardian. In 2013 Houndmouth’s debut album, From the Hills Below the City, was released by Rough Trade. This led to performances on Letterman, Conan, World Cafe, and several major festivals (ACL, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Newport Folk Festival). SPIN and Esquire.com named Houndmouth a “must-see” band at Lollapalooza, and Garden & Gun said, “You’d be hard pressed to find a more effortless, well-crafted mix of roots and rock this year than the debut album from this Louisville quartet.”

Flatland Cavalry –  For the past decade, Flatland Cavalry has built a reputation as “one of the most dynamic presences in country music” (Rolling Stone) with their signature “Easy on the ears, heavy on the heart” sound. In 2024, the sextet celebrated 10 years together with Flatland Forever , an acclaimed album that pays tribute to their journey, revisiting fan favorites while introducing new songs that showcase how far they’ve come.

Muscadine Bloodline – For nearly a decade, Muscadine Bloodline have delivered a soulful and potent form of country music indelibly colored by their Alabama heritage. But in the making of their latest body of work, the Mobile-bred duo dug deeper into their roots than ever before, dreaming up a batch of songs inspired by the places they know best: the blue-collar melting pot of their coastal hometown, bustling Cajun fishing villages and desolate timberlands, the untamed and idyllic spaces where they ran wild as children. The latest turn in a career that included releasing three acclaimed albums, earning a standing ovation at their 2018 Grand Ole Opry debut, and selling out shows across the country as an emphatically independent act, ‘The Coastal Plain’ emerged from an acute strengthening of their creative vision.

Marcus King Band – Marcus King faces heartache, addiction, and mental health head-on in his music. Pain quakes below the vibrato of his voice, and his delivery weighs heavy with booze-drenched regrets and mistakes in lonely hotels. The GRAMMY® nominated fourth generation musician from Greenville, SC, started playing guitar at 8-years-old following in the footsteps of his guitarist Father and Grandpa. Logging thousands of miles on the road as “The Marcus King Band,” he established himself with unparalleled performance prowess. During 2020, he linked up with Dan Auerbach and cut his solo debut El Dorado, garnering a GRAMMY® Award nomination for “Best Americana Album.” Between headlining venues, he performed alongside Chris Stapleton, Greta Van Fleet, and Nathanial Rateliff in addition to gracing the bills of Stagecoach and more. He has launched various mental health initiatives, including a guitar auction collaboration with MusiCares. Now, his 2024 album Mood Swings feels like the moment of baptism when water washes away a life’s worth of sins and degradation and all that’s left is a revived, yet still real-as-hell primal scream. It’s as if King strained raw soul straight from his gut up through that broken heart and on to the record under the watchful eye of Rick Rubin. Emphasizing his vocals front-and-center more than ever before, the trusty guitar he’s so often associated with plays the sideman this time around (though there’s no shortage of impressive shredding). For as dark as everything seemed, you can’t help but feel a sense of hope in the power of Marcus’s voice.

Cecilia Castleman – Singer-songwriter Cecilia Castleman, 24, had the best birthday ever in 2025. The accomplished young singer-songwriter released her gorgeous eponymous debut album (Glassnote Records) on January 24 – the eve of her 24th birthday. Growing up, Castleman’s parents made a lasting impression on her musical style and influence – they were both musicians – and exposed her to the likes of Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Bonnie Raitt and Brian Wilson. When her mother and father divorced at age 11, Cecilia found solace in songwriting which resulted in her beautiful debut record that is equal parts vulnerable, heartfelt and exploratory – an elegant and alluring journey into self discovery. Recorded in Los Angeles’ famed Henson Recording Studios and produced by six-time Grammy Award winner Don Was, the Nashville-based, multi-instrumentalists sound is both modern and undeniably reminiscent of her legendary influences. The album is a vulnerable and introspective coming-of-age opus that is heartbreaking and joyous with Cecilia’s haunting vocals soaring over Pop and Americana melodies. Consequence calls the album “a confident body of work”, Atwood Magazine boasts it as a “timeless and sonically lush coming-of-age album with seemingly endless layers.” No Depression praises her “soaring soprano” and MXDWN calls her “immediately charming”. “I’ve had the opportunity to make a record at the right time with the right people and that’s all I’ve ever wanted in my life,” says Cecilia. “It came out better than I ever imagined. Don and I really understood each other from the very beginning. We’d go home for the night, listen to the current mixes and the next morning we’d compare notes. Nine times out of ten, they’d be the same. It was telepathic. This record is a composition of my fragile thoughts. I wrote and played everything I knew.” Cecilia continues to captivate audiences with her versatile guitar playing and mesmerizing live performances. In July of last year, Cecilia toured supporting Marcus King with shows in Albany, NY, Indianapolis, IN and Detroit, MI. In October, she supported Ashley McBryde in Colorado and has also performed alongside Hozier, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Teskey Brothers, Inhaler, Patrick Droney, Brett Dennen and Sister Hazel in her hometown of Nashville. In addition to her touring success, Cecilia’s influence extends to the digital realm, with a Rick Beato video featuring her work amassing over 1 million views. Cecilia first garnered media attention with her debut of “Lonely Nights” on Apple Music 1 with Zane Lowe. She was a SXSW 2024 Official Artist and appeared at the AAA Summit in Boulder, Colorado last year. Her tracks have been added to a variety of playlists including: New Music Friday, Grade A, Fresh Folk on Spotify + New In Pop, New In Alternative, Wax Eclectic and more. On Apple Music she has been included in Breakthrough Pop, Breakthrough, Folk, Fresh Folk & Americana on Amazon Music. Furthermore, her dynamic guitar playing has drawn praise from none other than John Mayer himself. Castleman has been included in Fender Next’s Class of 2023 and her music has also found its way into the hearts of viewers through syncs with HBO MAX, Netflix, and the feature film Everybody. As she continues to carve her path in the music world, Cecilia Castleman remains a beacon of authenticity, with each song serving as a heartfelt letter to herself and her listeners alike.

Wilco – For 30 years, Wilco has been a pioneering force in independent music. The Chicago rock band has released 13 studio albums and won multiple Grammy Awards. They have founded their own record label, dBpm Records, and renowned Solid Sound festival. The sextet comprised of Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche, Pat Sansone, Nels Cline, and Mikael Jorgensen—continues to be regarded as a live powerhouse, as described by NPR, “To see Wilco on stage is to hear the best of the best.” The band’s newest album, Cousin, was released in 2023, followed by 2024’s Hot Sun Cool Shroud EP.

J Boog – Born and raised on the West Coast and influenced heavily by his Polynesian upbringing, J Boog is undoubtedly one of the top reggae singers in recent years. Mentored by island reggae icon Fiji, he fine-tuned his sound and style creating a unique blend that transcends across continents. Early on in his career, a chance encounter led J Boog to connect with Yami Bolo and Gramps Morgan, which then took him to Jamaica where the reggae singer found himself working in the historical studios of Bob Marley, Don Corleon, Bobby Digitals, Shaggy, and Sugar Minott. This experience no doubt played another key role in the flair of Boog’s music. His debut album, Hear Me Roar, dropped in 2007 and a few years later he released Backyard Boogie, which included megahits like Let’s Do It Again produced by Don Corleon and Sunshine Girl produced by Gramps Morgan and featuring Peetah Morgan. Amidst the 2020 global pandemic, Let’s Do It Again exploded on Tik Tok via a viral dance by Stranger Things Noah Schnapp even garnering the attention of high-profile celebrities like Charli D’Amelio and Jason Derulo. The popular track currently boasts over 75m views on YouTube and continues to chart on the iTunes Reggae chart even today. A year after its release though, Backyard Boogie earned J Boog the Best Entertainer at the International Reggae and World Music Awards in Chicago. Wash House Ting was released in 2016 and featured tracks with veteran reggae band Morgan Heritage as well as Dancehall legend Buju Banton. The album topped Billboard Reggae Best Album charts and was later nominated for Best Reggae Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards. His EP Rose Petals was nominated for best reggae album of the year at the 2017 Grammy Awards and also topped US Billboard and iTunes Reggae charts. J Boog’s repertoire boasts tracks with Soja, Iration, Tarrus Riley, The Green, Fiji, Chaka Demus, Richie Spice and more. He has toured all over the world, including Europe, Africa, Dubai, New Zealand, Australia, Japan and of course across the US. He’s performed at festivals like Cali Roots, One Love NZ, Good Love, Reggae Rise Up, One Love Cali, Arizona Roots, Dry Diggings, and the Myjah Rayjah to name a few. In 2021, J Boog released three singles [Siva Mai ft. SiaosiAin’t No Love Like, and Free of Dem]. He even hosted a dance competition for Siva Mai that gained entries from dance crews all over the world. He was also nominated for Male Artist of the Year at the Island 98.5 Island Music Awards in Honolulu.

Damien “Jr. Gong” Marley – Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, a multi-Grammy-winning Jamaican talent and the youngest son of the legendary Bob Marley, has forged a unique musical path. Blending reggae with hip-hop, R&B, and rock, he made history as the first reggae artist to win a Grammy outside the genre. His breakthrough album, “Welcome To Jamrock,” clinched two Grammys for Best Reggae Album, and the Best Urban/Alternative Performance for the title track, which was also declared the best reggae song of the decade by The New York Times. Collaborations with Nas and Skrillex, notably the platinum-selling “Make It Bun Dem,” showcase Marley’s diverse musical prowess. Rolling Stone hailed “Make It Bun Dem” as a monster mash-up of dubstep and dancehall. “Stony Hill,” his fourth studio album, secured another Grammy, followed by “The Kalling,” winning Best Reggae Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. Recently, his rendition of George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord” received acclaim from Olivia Harrison and the George Harrison Estate. As the co-founder of the renowned Welcome To Jamrock Reggae Cruise, Damian continues to shape the reggae scene, gearing up for its 9th annual voyage.

Kaleo – Icelandic rock band KALEO will release their highly anticipated third studio album, MIXED EMOTIONS on May 9th via Atlantic. Produced by GRAMMY® Award Winner Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan, Sierra Ferrell) and co-produced by frontman JJ Julius Son and GRAMMY® Award Winner Shawn Everett (The Killers, Kacey Musgraves), MIXED EMOTIONS is a landmark rock album tackling themes from ending gun violence to overcoming despair. MIXED EMOTIONS is KALEO’s most ambitious album yet and it hits hard and digs deep in its mission for us to embrace our full spectrum of emotions during these trying times. MIXED EMOTIONS showcases KALEO’s full range, from high-octane adrenaline to restrained, thought-provoking inner reflection. In May 2024, Rainbow Kitten Surprise released their first album in six years, LOVE HATE MUSIC BOX.
