Jackson, WY – The three Snow King managing entities, Snow King Mountain, Snow King Resort and the Snow King Resort Master Association, are proud to unite efforts and introduce the King Concert series to the community. “With a short ride up the new high-speed gondola, concert goers can enjoy a host of musical events atop Snow King while enjoying local food and beverages, and the very best views of Jackson Hole,” shared Snow King General Manager, Ryan Stanley. “We hope this inaugural concert on the Summit Stage will be the first of many, and expect our King Concerts to only get better as we finish construction of our new Summit House, the Planetarium and Observatory, and conclude revegetation work on the mountain.”
The concept and curation of the musical talent for the event is a collaboration between part-time Jackson resident Duane Betts, son of famed Dickey Betts of The Allman Brothers Band, and talent buyer Shannon McCormick. “We have worked hard to bring together a very special band with incredible talent,” said Shannon. “If there was a roof up there, we are pretty sure they would blow it off.”
The event will be held in a natural setting on the summit of Snow King. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets, low-back chairs, sturdy shoes and mountain weather appropriate clothing to enjoy the alpine environment in comfort. Duane Betts & His Friends With generationally-deep musical roots, Duane Betts & His Friends are a superhighway of talent driven by a powerful trifecta of forces: genetic predisposition, an innate passion to play and perform, and an intrinsic desire to honor and carry on their fathers’ legacies. Guitarist and singer-songwriter Duane Betts will be joined by drummer Cody Dickinson, guitarist Luther Dickinson, multi-instrumentalist Jackie Greene, bassist Berry Duane Oakley, guitarist Johnny Stachela, and vocalist Lamar Williams, Jr. for an evening of collaboration, inspiration and improvisation.
Duane Betts Guitarist, singer-songwriter, and part-time Jackson resident, Duane Betts, is a Sarasota, FL native and the son of famed guitarist and founding member of The Allman Brothers Band, Dickey Betts. Duane cut his teeth as a teen sitting in regularly with his Dad’s band before relocating to Southern California to pursue his own music career while also playing guitar alongside his father in Great Southern. He was a touring guitarist for Dawes, and a member of the brief supergroup, Jamtown, featuring G. Love, Donovan Frankenreiter, and Cisco Adler. Currently, Betts is prepping a second solo album, furthering his impassioned six-string stories reflecting a life and a history steeped in blues, rock, and country music tradition. www.duanebetts.com
Cody Dickinson Cody Dickinson is an award-winning musician who has earned four Grammy nominations as the drummer and founding member of the North Mississippi Allstars. He has also won multiple awards as co-creator and producer of the Take Me To The River film series. Cody continues to be one of the music industry’s premier drummers, demonstrated by his 2013 Blues Music Awards nomination in the “Best Instrumentalist/Drums” category. They have toured the world, collaborated with legendary talent and have earned four Grammy nominations along the way. Luther’s improvisational prowess has been wowwing Jackson fans all the while with shows at The Mangy Moose, The Center, and JacksonHoleLive, to name just a few. www.lutherdickinson.com
Jackie Greene Americana and roots singer-songwriter Jackie Greene is a multi-instrumental artist who can croon over soulful piano ballads as much as he can shred a bluesy guitar solo. He recorded and toured with Trigger Hippy – his supergroup with Joan Osborne – and in the last four years performed over 300 shows of his own, all while continuing to record and release his solo work. Greene is a frequent member of Phil Lesh & Friends, and sits in with countless other artists including Tedeschi Trucks Band, Gov’t Mule, North Mississippi Allstars, Amy Helm, Steve Earle, and Bob Weir. www.jackiegreene.com
Berry Duane Oakley Growing up surrounded by a familial community of noteworthy and legendary talent in Los Angeles, bassist Berry Duane Oakley developed a deeply ingrained love for music. As the son of The Allman Brothers Band’s original bass player, the late Raymond Berry Oakley, and with stepfather Chuck Negron (Three Dog Night) and godfather Robby Krieger (The Doors), Oakley’s musical calling seemed preordained. His first taste of major touring came as a teenager during The Allman Brothers Band’s 1989 Dreams tour. Since then, Oakley has sat in and worked with many Rock and Roll Hall of Famers.
