World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb

The World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb runs from Thursday, March 21st – Sunday March 24th.  The first two days of the event are qualifying runs for the next two days where racers get the opportunity to attempt climbing to the summit of the mountain.  Saturday is always the busiest day on the mountain and at the base for spectators.  If you aren’t familiar with the Hill Climb check out this video.  This is one of the most spectacular motor racing events in the world and you don’t want to miss checking it out.

While you can see the show from the base area on the Jumbotron, the very best views of the action are up on the mountain.  You can ride the Snow King gondola to the summit and hike down to get the best view.   Make sure you wear good boots, warm snow pants and jackets, and gloves if you choose to hike down the mountain.

Tickets are required for entrance to the Snow Devils venue at the base of the mountain and for riding the gondola.  Skiers and snowboarders will not be required to purchase tickets to enter the venue so consider bringing some skis or a board, picking up a lift ticket, and you can lap the gondola all day long for $85.  Scenic Gondola Rides are $35 for a single ride or $85 for an all day pass.  Buy your gondola/lift tickets in advance online or you will wait in line.  Expect a long line for the gondola on Saturday.

Lodging:

Book your rooms ASAP as the Town of Jackson fills up for Hill Climb weekend and prices go up closer to the event.  The Snow King Hotel is your closest lodging to the venue, but all downtown hotels are only a few blocks away.

Things to Bring:

Snow boots, gloves, snow pants, snow jacket, warm layers, sunglasses, lawn chairs, hat,  sunblock, legal ID if you wish to purchase or consume alcohol, binoculars,  and cash.  Please note that there are no ATMs on site and credit cards are not accepted by all vendors at the hill.
