Free Ladies’ Skinning Technique Clinic
December 18, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pmFree
Wednesday, December 18, 5-7 PM at Snow King Mountain
- Are you just getting started in the backcountry?
- Do you need more confidence before transitioning from lift-served skiing?
- Are you interested in learning proper form and technique for safe and efficient travel on your skis or split board?
- Do you want to learn the tips and tricks to avoid mistakes that we all made as beginners.
This course is designed for you – to learn and practice the fundamental skills and movement concepts of ski touring.
Join a professional ski mountaineer and a physical therapist in a fun learning environment to help you begin or improve your skills.
We will go over form and tips and practice skills as a group, as well as address individual concerns from each participant. We are excited to help a small group of women develop a strong foundation and community in a sport that we love.
All participants will need a Snow King uphill pass for the evening ($15) or an uphill season pass. You should have the fitness to travel uphill for one hour and to ski or ride a blue square run. A backpack filled with snacks, hydration and warm layers is strongly encouraged.
Pre-registration required, clinic limited to 12 participants.

Who are we?
Janelle entered the earth at great heights, in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. With instinctual endurance and speedy style, Janelle summits peaks so smoothly that some wonder if she was a mountain goat in a past life.
Janelle holds the women’s speed record for running the Teton Grand Traverse, as well as many first females ski descents and first female climbing ascents. She has won seven national SkiMo titles and was the first and only woman to ski across the entire Alps Mountain Range, from Austria to France, in 36 consecutive days.
These feats may seem supernatural, but Janelle credits a holistic approach to her endeavors and in every aspect of her life, including the monumental adventure of motherhood. Expect to keep seeing Janelle running around in the mountains just with a little girl in tow.
Mouna Goyette is a fellowship trained Doctor of Physical Therapy and avid backcountry snowboarder. Over the past couple of years, she has focused her continuing education on mountain athletics, including technique and fitness for ski touring.
She began split boarding in the White and Green Mountains of New England. As a rookie backcountry snowboarder traveling with an advanced crew, she quickly learned that good technique and endurance would help her keep up with her friends and ultimately lead to a fun day!
She enjoys teaching what she has learned both professionally and recreationally to aspiring backcountry skiers and snowboarders.
